Excellent experience as a solo traveller. My favorite part was the friendly staff and the sushi chefs singing the pop hits behind the sushi bar!! Amazing!!! The food was fresh and included fun signature roll choices. I went for the "Candy Kane" which was perfect because it had multiple types of fish, asparagus and avocado. Yum! I also had an order of unagi which was thick and juicy (not dry like I've experienced before in other restaurants) and included two large pieces. Hot green tea included free refills for only $2. That's a bargain! Despite being near an Inn & Out burger (which I don't have back home) I'm really glad I chose this spot. Casual with a nice, cozy vibe great for dates, friends or solos like me!

I've been going to this spot since the new owners transitioned in. Always lovely service, great food, but what I really appreciate is the care they have for families with little ones. I went to eat dinner with my almost 2 year old the other day. I rarely go out to eat with him (just him and I) and we usually take food to go because he's a toddler and we have a small window of eating before his attention goes elsewhere. One of the owners gave the little guy coloring activities and even had training chopsticks ready for my son to use to eat sushi. It was because of their hospitality that I was able to finish my food! The owners are super family-oriented and if you are looking for a place that lets you be without feeling overwhelmed and stressed, this is the spot to be at!

Best Japanese curry I've ever had. The waitresses were extremely nice and the decor and atmosphere was very cozy and welcoming. Very fresh tasting fish and very beautiful presentations on the plate. Of the 5 or so items I tried, all of them were really good. I'm just visiting California and I've really missed good sushi and this was exactly what I was looking for!

Came here to grab lunch with my girls. I haven't been here in years and since then, the restaurant has come under new management. It is owned and operated by a lovely family whom I've known since I was a teenager. It's nice to see businesses owned by Stockton natives. We ordered spicy edamame, the spicy hamachi, and 4 rolls. Out of the 4 rolls, my favorites were the caterpillar and the firecracker rolls. Collectively, everything tasted great and the service was awesome as well! Definitely a great restaurant to get your sushi fix in!

I finally found a place in Stockton that has Japanese food the way I like it!!!! It's not too saucy or sweet!!! Oh my goodness, if you all only knew how hard it is for me to find a place like that especially when the owner is not Japanese. This place is run by a Filipino that was trained by Japanese chefs! So their rolls aren't dripping in sauce!!! (Had a chat with the owners after and really enjoyed that we had the same opinions of authentic Japanese flavor. Fish was fresh! I had the poke bowl. It was FULL of good quality fish and was balanced beautifully. Fish to rice proportion was so nice. Perfect amounts of each. Plating was beautiful! Left me enough room to enjoy half of a veggie croquette order. Friend had Shrimp tempura which was really Ebi-fry (deep fried shrimp in panko). Tempura batter is made with flour or rice flour. (EDITED: turns out they did a cool double whammy and dipped it in tempura batter and then rolled it in panko. Oh M Genius!) It was apparently delicious as it went down the hatch along with three orders of perfect nigiri. We had green tea ice cream for dessert. All perfect and we will be back!!!! The service was perfect. Water was brought in a pitcher so we didn't have to bug her too often. Finally, the bill came and it was so nice and affordable for us. Coming from the Bay Area, it was so nice to not have to eat pbj sandwiches for a week to make up for the cost of dinner. Thanks!!!!

I had the pleasure of hosting a silent book club meeting during their happy hour, & it proved to be a joy. Stepping through the doors, I was greeted with an ambiance that seamlessly blended modern sophistication with the tranquility of Japanese aesthetics. Dim lighting, minimalist décor, & the gentle hum of conversation set the tone for an evening of literary immersion.Masa offers an array of delicious dishes. What truly sets Masa apart, however, is their impeccable service. The staff exuded warmth & professionalism, attending to our every need with a graciousness that elevated the entire dining experience. As the evening unfolded, our silent book club meeting flourished in the embrace of Masa's serene ambiance.

Updated Review--- SO AMAZING! I've recently moved away from Stockton, but I was able to visit Masa again when I was in town, and I'm so happy I did! We ordered the ika geso, a few rolls and a hand roll, and the katsu don and with a side of curry. OMG! We really loved the fry on the ika geso and the katsu don. The batter was flaky and airy - so tasty! The curry, hands down, was probably the best Japanese curry I've had. I was so blown away that I ordered some to-go to eat at home. Lol The sushi rolls and fish were super fresh and tasty as well! We loved the attentive service, and the new owners made it a point to check-in with us as well. Such a nice touch! Definitely make it a point to visit when you're in the area - you won't be disappointed.

Another great sushi spot in town! We also ordered fried gyoza, not pictured. Sashimi was actually pretty big size compared to other sushi restaurants, not complaining there! A plus is they open late!
